The Salt-N-Pepa Show Recap - Episode 3 - Keep It Movin'

When Pep crashes at Salt's house, she brings...

snp_3_5.jpg

...numerous boxes...

snp_3_11.jpg

...a naughty portrait...

snp_3_17.jpg

...and her own symbolism. See, with Pep, you never know what you're going to get: every encounter is a crap shoot.

So far, Salt-N-Pepa's road to reconciliation has been relatively smooth. I mean, they're not moving in together or anything...

snp_3_1.jpg

...oh wait, yes they are. Pep's house is getting renovated and a new place that she's buying in the city isn't quite ready yet. Pep drops the bombshell while Salt and Gavin are shopping for...

snp_3_3.jpg

...melons? Weird. Anyway, there's more melons to be ogled, but first, Pep has to move in:

snp_3_6.jpg

Pep's staying for only three days, supposedly, but it looks like she's packed everything she owns. Before you can say, "Make yourself at home..."

snp_3_7.jpg

...she already has. What better way to announce your appreciation for being allowed to stay in a place than to strew your ladythings about? Really: Pep is the gift that keeps on giving.

And giving and giving.

snp_3_8.jpg

At first, it's unclear why Pep would need to bring a giant painting to a house that she's staying at for only three nights. And then we see it...

snp_3_9.jpg

...and realize that this portrait of a topless Pep is clearly for our entertainment. She needed to bring it, yes indeed, if, for nothing else: our benefit. Told you there'd be more melons!

The boobs distress Salt.

snp_3_12.jpg

"It's actually a very pretty picture, but..." she sighs. Even if you find her prudishness to be unnecessary, you gotta give it up for the fact that Salt isn't one to sit on the steps and complain.

snp_3_13.jpg

She actually does stuff about the things that bother her.

Take for example when Gavin, his boys and Pep decide to play a rowdy game of Dominoes.

snp_3_15.jpg

Salt takes no shorts when it comes to calling out their loudness.

snp_3_16.jpg

"Tell Sandy to calm down. I hear her big mouth the most," she tells Gavin. Ha!

When Sandy and the boys don't calm down and launch into a rowdier game of Cee-lo, Salt confronts the problem head-on:

snp_3_18.jpg

"Y'all really buggin'," she says. You know, if you're gonna get scolded, that's the way to get scolded. I wish my mom yelled at me like that.

It does little, by the way, to deter Pep from her rampant gambling:

snp_3_19.jpg

Because really, if you're going to stay over someone's house, why not try to make a little money while you're at it. That way, you're living rent-free and making bank.

The next day brings a mess from Pep...

snp_3_20.jpg

snp_3_21.jpg

...and a singing lesson for her daughter, Egypt:

snp_3_22.jpg

Pep's out so Salt must facilitate this. The best thing about it is that when Egypt comes bounding down the stairs, Salt's response is, "That's an interesting outfit." And so it is.

Oh, and more of Pep's stuff comes. And by "stuff," I mean "plant life."

snp_3_24.jpg

Love that Salt's fretting amongst the flora. It's like she's in her natural habitat and she's pissed.

Pep's in a fruitless meeting with the interior designer of her new apartment all day, while Salt tries desperately to get in touch with her. Toward the end of the day, Salt discovers that the reason she couldn't connect with Pep is that Pep's cell phone has been left at the house.

snp_3_25.jpg

To be fair, it's probably safer there than under Pep's tutelage. You never know where that phone might end up!

Pep eventually comes home and, of course, sets off the alarm...

snp_3_26.jpg

It's sort of shocking that she didn't step on Salt's dog when she was at it. Anyway, it's obvious that she's sort of terrorizing the house with her very presence. She talks to Salt the next day during a solo yoga session...

snp_3_28.jpg

She pledges to clean up her act and says that she even might stop by Salt's prayer circle today. Salt's all, "No really, don't put yourself out," gently attempting to dissuade Pep, but Pep will have none of it. The only thing that's missing from this episode is Salt shaking her fist like Mr. Spacely and yelling, "Pe-paaaaaaaa!"

Since there are ladies of God coming over, Pep attempts to do the right thing by turning around the portrait of her nude bosom.

snp_3_29.jpg

The problem? She turns it around in front of a window.

snp_3_30.jpg

As one of the prayer ladies arrives, you can hear her saying, "Is that a nipple?" It just wouldn't be Christian to dignify that with an answer.

The meeting starts. Salt leads it, of course. She draws on personal experience for their discussion topics, which means that today's prayer meeting is a thinly veiled therapy session on dealing with Pep.

snp_3_31.jpg

Pep catches wind of Salt's topics (listening, honesty), because really, she's not dumb.

snp_3_32.jpg

She totally interjects, defending her listening skills and deeming Salt "too honest."

snp_3_34.jpg

Salt protests the way Pep's taking everything that she says personally -- Salt says that this isn't about her. She's right: it's about her and Pepa. Eventually, Pep joins in the circle and they all have a nice chat about admitting that you're wrong. I'm not sure how this will make Pep a better house guest, but at least maybe she won't be so indignant in the future. The prayer circle ends with an impromptu rendition of Salt-N-Pepa's classic "Expression."

snp_3_37.jpg

snp_3_38.jpg

snp_3_39.jpg

That's the kind of prayer circle I want to be a part of. Can I come next time, guys?

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS EPISODE!!!! I have never laughed that much during a reality show. I think Salt and Pepa act more like sisters than friends. I really noticed the sisterly dimension of their relationship when Salt was discussing Pepa's decision to buy the expensive apartment. And although Pepa seemed a bit over-the-top when she was visiting Salt, it just reminded me of a big sister-little sister relationship. Especially when Pepa just left her daughter at Salt's house and sent over the voice teacher without even mentioning it to Salt. Sounds just like a sibling relationship. FUN-NY! I love this show because it shows how two women of color can work through their issues in efforts to maintain a sincere relationship when both are willing to try. I am their biggest fan!

VonDoraun

HAHAHAHAH! HILARIOUS...ESPECIALLY WHEN PEPA CRASHED THE BIBLE STUDY AND WAS LIKE "YOU WASNT RESERVED...YOU USE TO LAY IT ALL OUT THERE!" HAHAHAHAH THAT WAS SO FUNNY I THINK IT WAS REALLY PEPS TIME TO VENT OUT ON SANDY LMAO! BUT THIS SHOW IS OFF THE HOOK I HEARD THEY GOT IN A FIST FIGHT THOUGH I WANNA SEE IF THATS TRUE....VH1 THIS SHOW DEFINATELY DESERVES A SEASON 2 THAT IS IF SALT WANTS TOO....LOVE YALL!

I love this show!!!!!!! I am cracking up the entire time the show is on. When Pep moved in and had Cheryl husband shooting dice and then crashed the bible study I thought I was going to fall out of my chair but the funny thing was Cheryl said, ever so nicely, you don't have to come. I have never laughed so hard at a show. My children are now asking me who is salt n pepa. They want to hear their music. I am so glad they are trying to work it out. They bring back such good memories. I was singing to every word of express yourself. I didn't realize how much I missed them. Thank you!!!!! I can't wait until next week.

I think with every show it gets better and better. I can identify with them so much, and as much as I desired to be like salt, I see a lot of my craziness like pep. It is funny, but it is the truth. I love this show, and I hope they stick around for a while. I understand salt's apprehension about going back into show business, I hear a lot of celebrities talking about that, especially when they have found a sense of peace. However, I have to say that once the ending of the show came, I think Salt will being doing a great injustice to herself to stay away from the limelight she surely shines whenever I see her sing. I love love love the show. Pep, you are crazy.

antonio

Abby

This was a good show, espcially when Pepa kept walking through when Salt had her prayer group there. lol I honesly still don't know if this reunion is going to work, it's probably going to take a long time. Salt needs to loosen up a little bit though, she is way too serious all the time.

Dianne

this show is wild I am so much like pepa but would love to be more like salt. does anyone think that pepa was kinda flirting with Gavin I wouldnt like that little goins on if it was my man.

jorland

I love the episodes and the overall reunion as well, but how can you have a reunion without Spinderella! She was in the group too wasn't she? Salt, I love ya girl and I feel everything you say. I a friend like Pep and she is just like her but I love her as I know you love Pep. I am just glad you are doing things the way you are. We have to have balance in our lives and they are it!

Lady Grace

I've been watching the show and after the last episode decided to post my thoughts. No matter what their differences are they can over come them and get back to what's really important and that is their friendship. It will require a little compassion, understanding, and compromise on each side. Ladies just take a walk in each other shoes and truly learn about each other and you will truly connect your old friendship with who who have become. Then you will once again be the true friends you are mean to be. Best of luck

Spoken Word

I love the show. I had a hard time readjusting or getting used to Peppers new nose, midseason. but all in all she looks great.
Its interesting that their lives went in two totally different directions. Something that many friendships have gone lost over. Its nice to see them come back together and the process its taking them to embrace their differences. The show is definetely something totally new and interesting since the rest of mainstream TV is so busy burying the topic of religion and morality under a rock.

Linda

I love this show. Salt your a little to uptight. You haven't been much of a friend to Pep. You're judgemental and opinionated. You talk the bible, but you don't practice what you preach. I'm sure glad that I'm not your houseguest. From the moment Pep arrived, Salt made her feel totally unwelcome.

Lady T

I am enjoying the show. Initially I thought Salt may have been too uptight but as the show goes on I see why she acts the way she does with Pepa who is a very sweet "loose cannon". I too see the sister connection between Salt N Pepa and hope they resolve their issues. VH1 keep up the good work.

mytrice

I really love this show. This is one of the best reality shows on tv. When Pepa moved into Salt's house it was too funny. Especially when they were all playing domino's and cee-lo. I was surprised to see salt's husband participating because the first episode he appeared to be real quiet. All in all I think the show is amazing and I am really looking forward to a second season. Even if they don't perform anymore just seeing them interact is good.

I love the show, I too am saved and living for Jesus now, so I can relate so much to Salt. My comment is, why is Pepa walking around Salt house in the most unappropriate sleep wear Ive ever seen. You do not wear that ype of sleep wear when you are guest at someone else's house, ecspecially when the hostess is married with children. If Salt was single, no kids etc. That is so rude! I would never be at my friends house with that night gown on, so short and skimpy, in front of my girls husband, is she serious? She might not think its a big deal, but it is. I thought that was a bit too much, you dont see Salt walking around the house like that, Im sure she does when the camera's are off and in the privacy of her bedroom with her husband, but come on Pep!

Angie O

I also love this show, I can remember being at the concerts back in the day. We were trying to be Salt N Pepa on my block. I truly can identify with Salt. When I began seeking God about my life and understanding my purpose in life was greater than I once believed. My friends and family began to seperate from me and I from them. Salt stay true to the peace God gave you, don't let anyone take that away from you or judge you for your decisions. So my comment is that I don't see Salt as being uptight. I see her as trying to stand her ground and keep God first.

Melissa

Personally I think Pepa face looks like Michael Jackson after a few surgeries. I respect the fact that Salt is saved and all but my God why does she feel she is better than everyone (at least that's how I percieve it. I remeber back in the day when Salt and Pepa use to be coke heads when I attended one of their New year's Party. I'm glad she's save but don't look down on everyone and think your better that's not the embodieness of a saint. Pepa I really feel like she tries to be a diva and she is not. You have been strugglin for a minute to try to make a come back. A few times on the Surreal Life and now you have this reality series. I just see diva attitude throughout the show. Show up when you want to, no respect for practice when you are trying to make a come back.

gman

I have to agree with Melissa I have watched the show since the first episode and my perception of the show thus far is that Pep thinks this is about her come back not about her and Salt's come back. What saddens me is that Pep is a mother and her child will see this show and be mortified behind her mothers behavior.Maybe 15 or so years ago that behavior may be acceptable but how old is she and she acts like those older women at the club desperate to be someone and meet someone.

Copeland

I absolutely love this show. VH1 came up with the best idea when they created the show. I am glued in front of the television every monday night.
