Rock of Love's Bret Michaels is not an easy man to get on the phone. Several attempts at coordinating an interview for this blog led to a whole lot of phone tag. Questions were submitted to Bret's lovely assistant, Janna, but instead of picking up the phone and giving VH1 a call, Bret elected to answer the questions all by himself using a video camera. The results couldn't be more entertaining -- as much as I would have loved to probe his mind in real time, the answers Bret gives to the camera as he flies on a private jet are probably more revealing than anything he could have given over the phone. In the video below, Bret says "Rich the blogger" several dozen times (he can't be faulted for not even trying my last name -- sometimes I can't even pronounce it), knocks down a few "adult beverages" and talks about throwing tantrums, looking for a "sexual soulmate" and how aging and weaker knees have forced him to adjust his lifestyle.
And, just FYI, getting in touch with Bret wasn't a total bust...

...I finally got to meet him at last month's Poison concert in New Jersey. He rocks just as hard in person as he does on TV. Unfortunately, he did not start any sentences with, "As you know, I..." but hey, there's always next time.

Brilliant!!! Rich AND Bret. Thank you, Rich the Blogger.
I love how he avoided saying Juzwiak but I feel your pain, Rich. My name is really spelled Gyn but pronounced Jean. All my life people have mangled it.
I've often wondered to my husband if Bret puts on his "old guy glasses" when he needs to read in public. He does it ROCKER STYLE!!! LOVE!!
Your pics are FIERCE!!!!!!!! Hee! I wanna show the pics to someone who haven't heard of either of you and ask "which one's gay?" Don't tell Bret, but you're way cuter.
Btw, may we know how to pronounce Juzwiak correctly?
Thanks again for making my day.

Is it really true RoL's been cancelled?
Posted by: Gyn | August 16, 2007 at 10:33 PM
ummm.... is it just me (or maybe its the altitude) but does he look super bloated and vaguely kenny chesney-ish in the video? maybe it's the hat. and he's got to be balding, right? he NE-ver takes the bandana/bandana and cowboy hat combo off. oye. that was fantastic rich. you're my fave! :)

I like his warning to Britney to take care of her babies. That was thoughtful. If Rock of Love is cancelled, what will I do with myself? I'll be miserable & have much less Rock in my life.

Man. I wish you had asked him how much plastic surgery he's had done.

Hey-
God willing Bret reads these blogs, but I highly doubt it. I'm quite sure this is cliched, but I have to say, I have never done this, nor never been compelled to to "blog" about anything like this in my entire life.
I'm 28 and happily married (insert groans here) and know, for certain, that the key to a happy partnership, with or without the ring, is entirely about finding somebody you can have fun with. On that note, I hope Bret takes my advice to heart.
I have my personal opinions about the remaining girls on the show, but I'm not going to introduce my prejudices into this blog.
Bret, stop putting such pressure on yourself - don't worry about doing the leg work. You are who you are and you seem like a sincere enough soul. You have NOTHING to prove. The key in finding happiness in a partner is not necessarily knowing them inside and out, but knowing yourself inside and out. If you know yourself, then you know what compliments you best. Then, and only then, can you find a partner that will love you and challenge you in all the best ways.
My husband and I don't always get along - there are times when God only knows why we are together....TRULY. But at the end of the day - there is nobody else that I would rather live, love, fight and just be with. Again, insert groans here, if you must.
Bret, I wish you all the luck in the world. Everybody deserves to find their true love and counterpart. I realize this a feeble attempt at "good advice," but I felt compelled to speak from my heart and let you know what has worked for an everyday life loving couple from Michigan.
Have Fun and Good Luck!
GO BLUE!!!!

Bret,
I enjoy your show and have been a fan for years, you're a great looking man and you deserve to get with someone real. This shows winner has probably been named already but I really hope you didn't pick Lacey, she is a snake and doesn't deserve you. I believe she needs the prosac and not Sam, if you recap the show you will see she's more intersted in winning (like most men she's competitive) than getting with you. Cut her or you'll be sorry.
God Bless, and I wish you love.

This is the most brilliant train wreck I have ever seen. Thank you so much!!! I can't wait for season 2. While I know there are some great girls (or their representatives) on the show, your show will only get better. Bring on more. I love it!!! I know I could use all that brain space for something more profitable, but I still know every song.
Thank you,
Big Kisses to you and yours,
Sara

BRET YOU NEED TO JUST BE TRUE TO YOUSELF AND GIVE LOVE TIME TO FIND YOU.IF YOU HAVE SEX WITH EVERY WOMAN YOU MEET BEHIND STAGE THEN YOU WILL NEVER FIND LOVE,BECAUSE YOU TO BUSY HAVING SEX TO FIND THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE!ANYWAYS I THINK YOURE LOOKIN IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES AND ALL THE WRONG FEMALES TO FIND TRUE LOVE!I MYSELF AM A SOUTHERN WOMAN AND I THINK MAYBE ONE OF US FEMALES FROM THE SOUTH IS JUST WHAT YOU ARE LOOKIN FOR!! Thank God it is more entertaining to watch than to participate.
What example are you showing for your 2 daughters?
Dump Lacy from the show. What a terrible, terrible attitude. I can only fathom that you are looking for a girl to atleast be able to get along nicely with others and nasty only when necessary or call Big John for assistance.

This video was so cool...Bret is so funny...I don't think he could actually fake anything in his life! I think if I met him in person, he would be just as down to earth and comfortable as he is with his family & friends.....just an honest cool guy! And looks smokin' hot while he's doing everything that he does! U GO BRET!!!!!

Why does VH1 keep producing shows like this? I am fully aware that this is entertainment and not a public service announcement, but the misogeny is unbearable.
In 2007, why are women allowing themselves to be degraded by digging through garbage and putting on slutty outfits in dirty port-a-potties to prove their love for a man they hardly know? Let's not forget, they must allow Bret to cheat on them, but what do they get in return? It is so sad VH1 gives a venue to show women being treated like circus poodles, and even sadder that they allow themselves to be shown this way.

To Bridget Danielle Edwards -- was the reference to your "hole life" just a misspelling or some great wordplay?

Bret, YOU have got to be as crazy as Lacey to keep her on your “SHOW” I know as a viewer we forget that we are watching REALITY taking place, and view these episodes as TV “Shows”…They are not, and the few of us that are watching this to see REAL LOVE happen want to see just that, REAL LOVE, not people getting ahead in life or supporting PETA or promoting their talents, we want to see what we have or don’t have and that is someone truly falling in LOVE with another person. I hope to GOD you pick JESS or SAM, they are the 2 most poetic, mature, TRUE, and down right REAL people On “ROCK OF LOVE” Lacey and Heather both belong in an insane asylum, and on HEAVY medications, stressing the “S”, and Brandy, I don’t know why she is on her, but it’s not for Bret. As for Jess, she is Hot as hell, (and I’m a Straight Woman) and Mature, Intelligent, respectful and seems completely there for LOVE, and Sam, she may be emotional but she is beautiful inside, and out, seems truly here to find love, and if you don’t pick Jess or Sam, I’m probably going to lose all respect for you as a man and a father. Bret has Children, you cannot have crazy wanna-be artists, crazy strippers who are only there to be a model, or someone like Brandy who as I said before I don’t know why she’s there, but it’s not for you. SAM and JESS ARE REAL, TRUE AND, as a Mom, I can see either one of them being an amazing step-mom/friend to your kids, and amazing women for you love and live with forever.
I wrote something when I was 12 that makes sense now that I’m 29…”On the outside looking in, when and how can you fit in, but when on the inside fitting in, you look toward the outside to sit in.” If you think about it, do you want to sit in the “In crowd” / “Rocker World” with someone that is only there for selfish reasons, and for the “game” or do you want to be sitting from outside enjoying what you have and not ever wanting again? Bret should think about that for a little….Sorry so long but this episode made me so mad, I lost some respect as a fan for Bret….
