The Celebreality Interview - Real

Ilny_8_12

Real's elimination on this week's I Love New York may have been the most shocking one yet. After the jump, Real talks to us about his passion for Arabian horses, what it was like to compete with his brother Chance and he reflects on breaking down in front of millions of viewers.

How was your time on the show?

I had a hell of a time. It's weird because the show ends up becoming your life for those three, four, five weeks you're on it. It's one of the best experiences I ever had.

Your elimination was really emotional. Were you surprised at all at your own reaction?

Kind of. The weird part about it was that I kinda knew I was getting eliminated Video_icon two or three days before. Just because I had the feeling. I don't know if it was all the thinking that led up to it, but regardless of what it was, it was very emotional. I was probably crying out there for a good five to seven minutes. They only showed a little bit.

Where did the tears come from? Genuine affection for New York? Leaving your brother? Leaving the competition?

I think it was the fact that I came there with my brother and I felt like I was leaving him there. You get attached to New York and the house. That becomes your world and then it's like, "OK, I have to leave." Those two things, mainly.

Did you have any resentment over being eliminated?

Nah, I just wanted what was best for Tiffany. It wasn't even about me. She made her choice and I guess she thought those were the two better men for her.

You mentioned that on the show, that you thought your brother was the better man for her at that point.

I think he was the better man for her, period. I think he's more of what she's looking for. My brother's wild and rebellious and stuff and she's wild and rebellious, too. I just think that she was really attracted to that, and I'm not about to change who I am. I'm me.

It seemed like at first, you were going to be more competitive with your brother than what panned out.

Yeah, and then I saw how ugly it can get and I knew that I couldn't do it. I can't fight my brother over a woman, especially when my mom Video_icon got involved and she started crying. We did that before, when we were younger and I thought, "I can't do this again."

Are you generally unafraid to cry? You seemed really open in that respect.

I don't think one should be a crybaby. I don't go around crying Video_icon. That was the first time I cried in years. I'm talkin' 'bout years. I think it's good for a person to express themselves. Sometimes if you bottle that stuff up, it might come out the wrong way. So I think it's good to be that way, I think it's cool to be able to show your emotions.

New York said you might be a little too sensitive for her.

Nah. I'm not too sensitive for her. I think she thinks I'm too serious for her. I wanted something serious and I still do. She wants…she still wants to play Video_icon.

Looking back on it, were you really falling in love with her?

I don't know. I'm not too sure if it was the moment or being in the house or what it was. But I definitely had feelings for her. Every guy in that house started getting feelings for her.

Did you go into it thinking you would?

Nope. Naw, man. I didn't think in a million years I would or I could. But I did.

Tango suggested on the show that you were there primarily to promote your rap group, Stallionaires.

When I heard him say that, I couldn't believe it. That was a straight-up lie because we never mentioned our music, not one single time when we were in that house. And we weren't even hanging around Tango. We were hanging around Whiteboy most of the time and 12 Pack. Never, ever brought up the music. That's a bold-faced lie. He's just mad because he's not a good rapper. If you go to his MySpace, you can hear his music. It's horrible.

But there wasn't even thought put into it like, "Oh, this will give us exposure and help us launch our careers later?"

Naw. When we did the show, we were signed to a record deal and we kept saying that we didn't want to do the show because we thought it might ruin our career. We thought people would be saying, "Here come some reality stars trying to do an album." We fought with Sony, who we were signed to at the time, about that. Eventually, we just decided to do it. We thought it would be a good experience because we were filming our own reality show prior to that.

What's up with that show?

We kinda just stopped. We completed three episodes and had a goal of six. It was gonna get picked up by HBO, but there was just too much crap going on behind it. My uncle was the one paying for it. But it was too many egos, and too many people getting in the way of the show picked up.

What was the premise?

It was like Fresh Prince meets Sanford and Son. My uncle is like Red Foxx. Literally, no joke.

You were raised around horses. That must have been interesting.

It was interesting. If it weren't for the horses Video_icon, we probably wouldn't be doing music. Through the horses, we met Paulinho Da Costa, who's Michael Jackson's percussionist, and he just helped us take it to another level. The Arabian horses opened up a whole new world to us. But yeah, we grew up around them our whole lives. We showed them, we rode them. I've been knocked off, sat on, the whole 9. They're actually doing a cover story on us in the new Arabian Horse Times magazine, which is the biggest horse magazine in the world.

You exposed a lot of people to Arabian horses.

People know about race horses, but people don't know about the Arabian-horse world. If you go to the Middle East, they don't raise thoroughbreds over three, they raise Arabians. And the stakes over there are like twice as much money as they are over here. The most expensive Arabian was over $12 million. There's tons of money involved in the Arabian horse world, and people don't even know. Sad to say, especially black people. We've been trying to get more black people involved. My dad was one of the very first black men to show Arabian horses. He got tomatoes thrown at him and everything. It was a really bad experience for him but he kept doing it and it paid off for him. And now it's paying off for us, too. But our generation doesn't seem to be that passionate about it and so me and my brothers and some other guys want to carry that legacy on and expose it to our generation and the younger generation so that it goes on.

What's up with the Stallionaires now? Are you signed?

No. It's funny because a lot of people have been coming our way. We're actually negotiating with three different record labels right now. The show did give us a lot of leverage, but like I said, we didn't go into it for that. The music is ultimately speaking for itself.

And is the music the next big project you have coming up?

I mean, we're working on a lot of stuff. Three things we've been working on is a clothing line, our music and doing some more TV stuff. We got offered a freakin' movie deal, but I can't say who with. It's a big-time producer that you'd know, but I have to keep that part confidential.

How do you feel about the way you were portrayed on the show? Are you happy with it?

Heck yeah. That was me. Straight-up me, dude.

So Real is, indeed, real?

Exactly.

Keep up with Real and the Stallionaires by visiting his MySpace.

I want you to know that real was to real for you. I wish real finds a real woman. I know you suppose to think highly of yourself but you take that to far. This show is only degrading you as a woman. I want to know why you have your mother in you business. New York you talk bad about everybody but you need to take a good look in the mirror. I think you and your mother are gold diggers. Tango is dumb for wanting to be with you because you was talking about his mother. I want you to take a good look at your mother.

shonda

I think Real was a really good guy and New York just wasnt "woman" enough for him. She's a grown ass woman who obviously doesnt know what she wants because she'd rather have a "boy." Real is to sexy and level headed to have been with a crazy bitch like that anyway.New York is looking for love in all the wrong places.Real if you lookin for a real woman holla atcha gurl!

Elisa

I'm not exactly sure how much of this is "made for t.v.", but this last cut made absolutely no sense to any of us watching. Mama does know best and she'll do whatever it takes to make sure her daughter is with the right man! We're behind you! New York, girl, you're too good to be putting up with a man that's going to be aggressive towards you. "Bad boys" are fun and all, but remember that there are lots of young women that are watching you make the decisions that you're making. Chance took the damn necklace off! That was the bargain. That should have been all it took. Of course he's gonna back pedal to stay on the show. I think you threw away the best man tonight. Too bad!

2sexyladee

New York really dropped the ball with this one. Who wouldn't want a sensitive, sweet, faithful, caring, sexy, goal-oriented man by their side. He's not on the show anymore simply because he is real...not the male version of her, a drama king.. (ie* Chance)

mo' mo'

Man New York you are a dumb ass!!! How are you gonna pick a boy over a man! You know you and chance are not gonna work! You are gonna get all fat and nasty and he is gonna drop you cause then you will be a crazy fat heffer just like your mom. Real, I hope you what you need and can love again.

Suzanne

This totally reinforces (for me at least) the ever growing knowledge concerning just how many of these shows have "pre-edited" ... or should I say "pre-decided" aspects. In the "real" world, what woman with half a brain in her head would choose someone who is either acting like a child or is being forced to act like a child -- not to mention one with numerous dangerous mental indicators -- over two men who appear (for the most part) to be both level headed and holding various degrees of real affection for her?

At this point I no longer care who she winds up with, just hope her Mom has already prepared all of her "I told you freaking so!!" messages and signs for after she has her daughter patched up after Chance gets a little too carried away with either drinking or smoking his blunts and beats the crap out of "Tiffany." The signs are all there, even in the highly edited version we've been given thus far by what used to be a decent music video network. Has anyone ever seen she and Chance being romantic with one another? Truly, lovingly romantic? No, because he is incapable, either from needing professional counseling, age, drugs, or as many of the blogs on the web seem to have decided ... he should have gone home with "12 pack" ... LOL!!

Can we see a show one day that does not offend our intelligence please?

Thank you for reading this with an open mind.

P.S. By the way, if I were vying for someone's attention and they were standing in front of me crying and sobbing over how much they loved the person they just let go, and how awful it will be without them, do you think I'd spend one more second there? Heck no! Tango has poured his heart out to her and she's yet to even say anything close to her heart to him, yet she stands there saying "I Love you" over and over to Real. Hmmmm, maybe she plans on going for a threesome when all is said and done? You all know she is bound to break Tango's heart, she's done it too many times before, like she is trying to get back at Flav through these men. (Well some of them were men anyway!)

Suzanne

Kimberly

I think that New York made a big mistake when she let Mr.Boston and Real go home. I honstly belive that they where the only two that was really there for her.

nikki

To Real: I think you're an fine and intelligent person I think you're too good for New York you try to pour your heart out to her to prove you're a good man but she could'nt see it. I wish this world have good men like you. And if you want to see how a real woman is email me.

Tanesha

To: Real I think you are a honest and respectful man. I wish only there were more men like you. I think New york is on there not for love but for tv because she let a good man go but at the same time I really think you are too good for her you don't say you love a person and don't mean it. if you sak me she don't know what she wants. yes your brother is wild and she is so i think they would end up together. I want you to know that i think you are the most sexest man I ever seen and I would like to talk to you. e-mail me or call 619 931-8175 I'm real not because you where on the show because i think we have things in common bye wish you the best of luck

REAL

I think NY is going to make the right choice and pick Chance.
They are the only two on the show with similar personalities and senses of humour.
They are both immature but at least they "get" each other.
None of the other dudes understand her.. and no one understands Chance, not even his own mama. They're mirror images of each other and will probably be very happily dysfunctional together.

Tracy

Wow I am not understanding NY at all! Chance does seem to be a little too aggessive with her! Where is NY mind at? Where is Chance mind at? I would have kept the money and left because it may have been a win/win situation. Even if they do get together it may not be long before they break up. Chance is very immature and has a long way to go before he becomes a real man. NY that rebellion stage only looks good for a little while. Eventually you will want a real man and you just missed out!

Tracy M

To: "Real",

I did not want to see you leave the show for my own selfish reasons! However, I did not feel that Tiffany was a good match for you either. God has a way of protecting us from things that are not good for us. May God Bless you, I hope that you find that precious woman that will be able to give you the love that you deserve. All the best and much success, I'll be watching for you!

To Tiffany,

Think about your life when the camera is off. I felt so badly when I watched TFOL. I wanted you to be happy because you had invested so much in FF. As you approach final elimination, remember your feelings on that last night! Or was this a set-up for the spin off? Anyway...Do what is the ultimate best for you!

Sonie

to:tango

get your clothes pack because you are leaveing and chance is going to win!

Reba

New York love the show!!! I just wish you and hopefully tango will be happy together..

Alexandra

I really just want to know how New York could pick Tango after all the NASTY things she said about his mother. She was just cruel and vicious. Did she ever think about how that would effect the two of them if they end up together, how does she think he's going to react when he sees that? Doesn't she think before she speaks for goodness sakes. Apparently not, she's just rude, and obnoxious and I hope that if she picks Tango he dumps her because she deserves nothing less.

Glenda

HELLO'REAL
I WATCH THE SHOW. IT IS REAL FUNNY.NEW YORK IS A REAL FAKE A$$ B**CHY. BUT FOR SOME REASON I LIKE HER.MY DAUGHTER IS LOOKING 4* EXPOSURE FOR HER MUSIC CAREER.ONE DAY SOON I HOPE SHE GET THE RECOGNITION SHE NEED....REAL I HOPE YOU FIND THE LADY OF YOUR DREAMS!!!

datgirl_4rmtampa

This show is so funny! There is no way that this is real. I don't think there is a woman in the world who would want a long term relationship with a child and a talebearer. Everyone on the show had their issues, but I think the final two should have been Whiteboy and Real. I think the directors kicked off the real people and kept the ones with the drama.

And who in the world told NY's mom to call herself Sister Patterson, there is no way she would be on TV representing my church with her raunchy daughter and her evil ways. THE WORLD NEEDS A REALITY CHECK! SOME REUNION THIS WILL BE.
